Gunpowder is known in China as “Pearl Tea”; its leaves are tightly rolled into small pellets. During the infusion the pellets gracefully unfurl and create a strong-tasting, dark-green tea. Our Gunpowder has a very pleasant aroma and aftertaste without the harshness frequently found in some grades. It is a solid tea to be enjoyed throughout the day and even tastes good when cooled down. Due to its strength, it should be used more sparingly than other teas. Try with a mint leaf as “tea a la menthe”.

The Lung Ching or “Dragon Well” with its subtle, chestnut flavor is probably the most renowned green tea in the world. Its mellow, slightly sweet taste makes it very enjoyable, even for the green tea novice. The leaves are dried in a hot wok. Skillful hands press the leaves against the sides of the wok and turn them repeatedly until they obtain their characteristically flat shape. This basic Lung Ching from the Chinese Zehjiang Province is an excellent value.
